Aren't the pictures lovely? Most of them were taken in Joshua Tree National Park. It is very pretty there.
Here is one of my stories. It is a short one, though.
The Secret Tunnel
By: me
The year is 2017. My friends, Jacqueline, Rachel, and myself, Elizabeth, are on a trip to Egypt.
We had just gotten off the plane, when Jacqueline said, “I can’t wait to see all the museums, and The Great Pyramids!!”
After we left the airport, I bought us snacks. They were delicious! I snapped a couple photos. We had just gotten there, and I already had pictures on my camera!
“Yum-my! These vendors make the best food,” Rachel, the major food lover, said.
“Tomorrow let’s visit the Great Pyramid of Giza!” Jacqueline proposed.
“Sure, sounds like a plan,” Rachel and I answered in unison.
That night, we could hardly sleep out excitement. That night, I thought about what we would find.
“Maybe we’ll find a lost tomb?” I fantasized,
“Maybe a hidden tunnel?”
“Even all of those things?” I dreamt.
We were up by 5:00 am. We took a cab out to the pyramids.
On the way there, Jackie said, “I think we should take a self-guided tour because we’ll be able to explore more.”
When we got out of the car, the door slammed shut. I heard Jackie squeal with excitement. We took a self-guided tour.
Not to far into the maze, Jackie found a small, unmarked tunnel.
“Come on!” she yelled excitedly, “This tunnel might be a new discovery!”
We ran through it and emerged into a large chamber. But there was nothing there! Jacqueline sat down and pulled her phone out. She googled “Map of the Great Pyramids.”
Rachel yelled passionately, “Keep going!!!!!!”
Jackie said, “Btw, I don’t think this tunnel is on the map!”
So we navigated the twists and turns with even more determination, and after a while emerged into an even bigger room. There was a large, golden sarcophagus in the center of the room, that was surrounded by shabti, jewels, and provisions for the afterlife.
I suggested, “Let’s mark our trail with pebbles, and go tell the staff.”
We agreed, and I went back to the entrance.
I demanded, “Let me see the manager!”
“Please! I really need to talk to him! Pu-leeeeeeeeze!”
Thankfully, they let me see him. I led him to the room.
When he saw it, he said, “Wow! I think this is the lost tomb of Tutmahamaw, the wisest pharaoh that ever ruled!” So he gave us much of the treasure, and also, six of the shabti...
Thanks for reading that! It is to be continued...
